Advantages: Tastes good so puppy says

Disadvantages: slightly dearer than other brands

A week past Wednesday I arrived home at the usual time only to be greeted at the front door by my wife. Dreadful thoughts were going through my head I thought something serious was wrong...........she had never met me at the door before. On reaching the front door I was instructed to close my eyes ( a rush of relief surged through my body ) and walk slowly into the living room.

I walked the short distance from the door the the living room with anticipation raging in my head, as I slowly opened the living room door my wife instructed me to open my eyes.

Hell I hadn't a clue what to expect, but was very surprised to see this frail little chocolate brown 6 week old puppy staring into my eyes. She was more scared than welcoming until I started to play and give her cuddles.

Earlier that morning my wife had rescued the puppy from going to the cat and dog home. The small skinny bitch and her brother had been dumped on a doorstep and left all day and night. They were going to take her to the home but she was so frail, and frightened, my wife raised her hand and said...........don't worry she's got a home now she is coming home with me.

My wife asked me now after seeing the most gorgeous puppy if it was OK..............................HOW THE HELL COULD I SAY NO. The frightened beast licked my face and I had already decided she was staying. Later that evening I went to pick my son up from work. he had had a really bad day and didn't say very much which was very unusual. When I told him about Tasha ( that's the name we have since chosen ) he couldn't have cared less about the crappy day and was suddenly transformed into a very happy young man.

For the first week or so we took special care of our new guest and did everything to make her feel at home. Slowly she has become stronger and more confident until now you would not recognize the difference. Initially we fed her pedigree puppy food which is softer and more easily digested by small puppies, now she has switched to Cesar which seems to be suiting her very well. The reason we chose Cesar is because our last dog Tara which we lost a few months ago was a fussy dog and she liked Cesar.

Cesar comes in different categories for different sized dogs. Cesar Junior, Regular, and Senior. There is no need for additional supplements as Cesar contains everything your dog needs. Even so a little treat now wouldn't go amiss

Cesar can be bought in little foil tubs individually or in packs of 6. It come in six different flavours all containing meat and veg. A single can is plenty for a puppy of Tasha's age, so she nearly gets a different meal everyday.

Each flavour comes in a different coloured foil tub so that should you find your dog has a favourite you can buy that flavour individually to top up the multi pack, so that you have a weeks supply.

It would appear from my studies of Tasha that the Turkey and rice variety is exceptionally good. On opening the tub you can smell the meatiness of the dish and see the quite big chunks of meat in a jelly with various veg, mostly peas it looks like. Now if I was a puppy the smell alone would have my mouth watering. It is quite moist and is very easily broken up into edible pieces with the aid of a fork. The Liver variety does not seem to have the same appeal to Tasha but it does look nice although I'm a liver fan I will refrain from a taste test.

An individual tub will set you back about 48p - 53p depending or where you shop. A six multi-pack costs in the region of £2.39 which is quite a good saving.

Judging by the reaction I get a feeding time Cesar is a very good puppy/dog food indeed. As i stand at the sink and open the tub the smell wafts its way through the house and in seconds I have an energetic little puppy pawing at my legs. Now i know that puppies just eat and eat but dividing the tub into four over the day is plenty for a small puppy. Dividing it into 2 portions will suffice a small dog.

So from Tasha it's a BIG thumbs up for Cesar in both taste and value. She definitely looks forward to feeding time but I do think that she might eat anything I put down in front of her, cause isn't that what puppies do.

Summary: An excellent dog food

The money from this review should be spent on your better half for doing the right thing and saving the puppy.
