My dog, Dexter, has been unwell lately. A problem that has arisen from his liking of rich, gravy based dog foods, which really, his digestive system cannot handle. After much variation in trying to find the right dog food, wet or dry, our vet suggested that we should try Chappie, if we could stand the smell. He recommended this due to the fact that Chappie was easily digestible and contained everything Dexter would need for a healthy, balanced diet and hopefully, Chappie would put a stop to the digestive problems Dexter was experiencing. Always one to give something new a try, we went to Sainsbury's and bought a 6 pack of Chappie. The 6 pack had two ... Read the complete review

When my young dog was diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis, she was put on a vet prescription diet for life. She had two severe acute pancreatic attacks in 2 years requiring hospitalisation and a drip for a week even on said diet. At £70 a bag, her food was not cheap but essential. I was discussing her condition and feeding with a vet friend and bemoaning the lack of a cheaper alternative. He suggested Chappie, having known and treated other pancreatic dogs who were doing well on it following his recommendation. I was wary (the low price worried me as I've always fed premium dog foods) but thought it would be worth a try. So I very slowly changed her food to Chappie, ... Read the complete review

For many years Chappie has, for me, been a bit of a life saver and yet again in recent times it has come into its own. In the dark and dismal past, long before pet foods appeared in plastic sacks, lived 'Chappie,' and, on some shop shelves, Chappie, still resides to this day, although in my experience, not on enough of them. This is I'm presuming, due to the limited distribution of the product, and, again just a guess, its lack of popularity with mainstream dog owners is down to the perception of cheapness and, although I don't have a problem with it, the smell. But any dog meat that can still, after all these years, boast openly on the can, 'vets ... Read the complete review

My lickle doggie is getting old and although I have tried to deny it its got to stop and I need to accept it! Along with getting old my poor doggie (jack) has had a lot of digestive trouble and I have been trying out different foods to find out what suits him best. Firstly it was pedigree wet food then pedigree dry then a specialist food from he vets and all of them he would not touch, I even bribed him with doggy gravy! Still to no avail and then someone well a lot of people actually told me about chappie and even vets recommend it. They say its one of the best foods for older dogs and those with digestive problems, perfect so I bought some. The product: ... Read the complete review

The tin is featured on the logo here but I use the dried form for my 3 dogs. This is a cheap healthy way to feed your dogs especially useful for those with sensitive stomachs. I do like the premium foods such as Hills and Eukanuba and if you can afford it especially with a small dog by all means go ahead but if you have a large dog or several large dogs as I do then I would reccomend chappie. Of all the cheaper brands of dog foods I find it is consistantly good quality and suits most dogs. I work as a vet and often recommend it for dogs with colitis but only after ruling out other causes of the dogs symptoms first. If you feed the canned variety please ... Read the complete review
