Chappie great for dog with pancreatitis (Chappie)
Member Name: happyhippy
Advantages: much cheaper than prescription diet Disadvantages: haven't found any! When my young dog was diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis, she was put on a vet prescription diet for life. She had two severe acute pancreatic attacks in 2 years requiring hospitalisation and a drip for a week even on said diet. At £70 a bag, her food was not cheap but essential. I was discussing her condition and feeding with a vet friend and bemoaning the lack of a cheaper alternative. He suggested Chappie, having known and treated other pancreatic dogs who were doing well on it following his recommendation. I was wary (the low price worried me as I've always fed premium dog foods) but thought it would be worth a try. So I very slowly changed her food to Chappie, watching like a hawk for any mild pancreatitis symptoms! Three years on my lovely little dog is happy, healthy and thriving on Chappie which she LOVES but more importantly has, thus far, had no acute attacks whatsoever and no symptoms. Pancreatitis is a severe, agonising and life threatening condition- the second attack very nearly killed her. It's great to see my dog looking so well and happy. Summary: Thrilled to bits with Chappie! |
