We have two cats around the house at the moment, theres Tinker whos 5 years old, the boss of the house, hes like our own guard dog and walks us too and from our house everyday, and then theres Tails, our new little kitten, Tails and Tinker arent 100% properly introduced at the moment as Tails is still only about 7 weeks old and were not sure how Tinker will react to him yet, though they have had the odd sniff of eachother.

Tails is at that age though where he is learning his insticts to hunt and is a very playful kitten, we bought him little colourful mice and a little rabbit as well to play with, however he seems to get bored of these toys really easily and plays with the toys that I made for him myself alot more.

The toys that I have made for him are, a string with a bit of paper tied to it, then trail it along the ground and watch them chase it and hunt it down, I sometimes also hide it up higher and hang it from places so he can hunt it out and play with it in different ways.

A ping pong ball, both my cats go mad for the ping pong balls, I think its because they make alot of noise, Tails can play for hours literally with a ping pong ball, and even Tinker who looks at me like I am mad when I try to play with him loves to chase it up and down the garden, the only problem is trying to get it back of him once he has caught it and I am finished playing with them.

A simple rolled up ball of paper, Tails loves to see me scrunch it up and throw it across the room, I think again this is because it makes so much noise and gets him more excited for the hunt.

These are every cheap and effective kitty toys, so if you dont have as much money to fork out for your cat, they will love these toys just as much as the more expensive toys you buy for them.

Thankfully though Tails is still only a kitten so he only needs played with for an hour at a time before he climbs up on ur knee and demands a pat and a sleep.

My friends cats loves playing with long, pheasant feathers (not whilst still on the pheasant though) and and old slipper! Good review with money saving ideas.

Good ideas. One of our cats likes to chase those 'pods' that contain the toy in a Kinder Surprise. Trouble is, they're small enough to disappear under the sofa, so guess who has to keep fishing them out?
