I have discovered the cheapest and easiest to make cat toy that there is.

COST: Nothing
MATERIALS: One sheet of newspaper
LEVEL OF SKILL: NONE
DANGER LEVEL: On a scale of 1 to 10, 9 for you and none for kitty!

So, what is this amazing cat toy. It's a sheet of newspaper. You do require some expertise in setting up this game and retaining all your fingers though.

Fold the sheet of newspaper in half and then in half again to form a tent. Tear a small hole in the centre of the fold. Stand the newspaper up (like a card) and poke your finger through the hole. Wiggle it gently to get kitty's interest.

This usually results in cats tearing across the room and launching an assault on the newspaper. You have to be quick in removing your finger though!

This inevitably ends in Kitty ruining the nice new toy by diving through the hole in the centre to get at the finger you have just removed.

I have played this game with all my cats and they do seem to get excited as the laughter increases around them. The problem is that one of them developed the habit of launching himself at the centre of a newspaper everytime he saw someone reading the news. This was actually very funny and we had to start laying the paper down flat in order to read it!
