Advantages: well, having a cat is great anyway, cats make their own toys when it suits them

Disadvantages: sometimes they use things for toys they shouldn't

A word of warning - this opinion has the word "pussy" contained within. And the words "box" and "toy". Unfortunately, these words are essential to this offering.

It would appear that DIY (another one!) toys are favoured by cats as opposed to ones bought.

I have a very soft spot for cats and the most delightful moggie of them all moved in during Septemeber 2000. She has had a few toys - an apt Marty mouse, variety kit which had a bright green mouse (her favourite but it got lost) a huge red mouse, a couple of balls which were either weighted off-center or had a rattle in them. Apart from me (arrrhh), her favourite toys are a piece of 2" x 2" timber which she climbs as well as scratches and one of my hair brushes but I don't mind - even if it were new when she got to it first! I also rigged up a toy mouse from a Christmas box which had lots of cat stuff in it from a bannister post but her latest "toy" are the five bundles of joy she has just had - I suppose that would be the ultimate DIY cat toy, isn't it?

If you think having to entertain a cat and five kittens is going to be daunting, I found another eight in my shed since so if they make it, I will have my hands full!

Cardboard boxes seem to be another popular activity for cats and so does hiding kittens in things like holdalls. Whilst I don't wear them as often now as it getting warmer, another distraction (for the cat or the owner, I can't tell) is the cord and bobbles on the end of a fleece. Once a cat sees that, well, you may as well give the cat your fleece!

I don't mind, though.
