I should perhaps begin this review by telling you a little about my dogs so that you can start to get a picture of why this gizmo is so useful to me as well as them. I have two dogs, the eldest is an 8 year old Border Collie cross Jack Russell (don't ask me how on earth they managed that but they did!) called George. The youngest is a 12 month old Jack Russell called Olive (blame my fiancée for the name lol). It's fair to say that George didn't have a very good start in life; he had a difficult birth, went to a rescue home for dogs and had very little human contact until I adopted him at 14 weeks old. This means George isn't without some behavioural ... Read the complete review

I was first introduced to these years ago and I absolutely love them. All of my dogs (a whippet cross, a Cairn Terrier, a Labrador and a complete mix with a lot of German Shepard) have had them integrated into their play time at one point or another and I have found them invaluable. I love these throwers for a number of reasons, 1. Cost 2. Size 3. Usefulness and 4. Easy of use (part of three). So cost wise they are great value for money. As a dog spoiler I love getting my dog new toys which can sometimes be extortionate, or can end up getting destroyed in less than three minutes especially if they squeak! I've seen them advertised as low as two pounds! I ... Read the complete review

As the proud "mum" of a hyper active cross between a GSD/BC + hippo + kangaroo I find that even a normal 1 hour walk won't be sufficient to exhaust my bouncy 3 year old dog. The solution? Well one of the best solutions so far have by far been the ball thrower/flinger. You can buy several versions of this, from the local market, Pets@home and any number of online suppliers. The quality and length can vary significantly. Ironically I found one of the cheapest (£1) from the local market actually suits me best so don't give up if your £4.99 one seems too long or too tiring to use... try finding a sorter version, it may be a lot easier to use! We have had a ball thrower for over a year now and I am pleased with the item. The ball thrower is made of plastic (if you have a dog that chews you need to keep it out the way or it gets eaten) It has moulded handle to help the user grip and make it comfortable to hold. Advantages - You can fling a tennis ball for a very long distance - It only cost £1 (pound shop) - Hold tennis balls so cheap and easy to replace them - Great for very active dogs - saves touching a wet mucky sticky horrid ball - If you are lucky you can use broken tennis balls to - There is a choice of ... As the proud owner of two dogs I have avoided tennis balls for years. There are a number of reasons for this but the main one has to be the slobber factor. Anyone with a dog whatever the size will be quite aware of the slobber factor when it comes to exercising their dog. The huge advantage a stick has over the tennis ball is the fact you can grab it by the end away from unwanted dog spittle. The other advantage a stick has is that it is just so much easier to throw for a girly girl such as myself, and can be left behind afterwards. Best of all they are free! However, did you know that sticks can be dangerous? I found this out recently when our beloved ... Read the complete review
