Premium Review Drontal Cat Tablets: Don't read the following if you're eating! (855 words)

On Sunday, I discovered my little girl had a problem that she's been keeping a secret from me. She was too embarrassed to tell me so it was only when I was cleaning her litter tray that I discovered she had worms. Despite my assurances that an estimated eight out of ten cats in the UK have worms, she has requested that I change her name for privacy. I shall therefore refer to her as Squeaky, an affectionate reference to the sound she makes when trying to meow. If you have ever witnessed cat worms, it is not a pretty site. After reassuring Squeaky, I promptly decided to take action and so my first port of call was Google. I did consider a hasty trip to the ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Yes we have no worms! (1061 words)

As you all must know by now we have been adopted by a stray adult cat who we have called Mew - mainly because when he first started coming to the house for some fuss he was very vocal and I called him Mew as a joke but we all thought the name really suited him. Now I tell everyone that I asked him what his name was and he said 'Mew'! Anyway a couple of weeks ago we noticed white strands on his fur near his bottom. We obviously knew that these were worms although what we didn't realise until we did a bit of investigation on the Internet was that cats need to be dewormed regularly - especially when they catch and eat all sorts of wildlife like Mew ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Drontal Cat Tablets: Killer Worms (493 words)

Even a cat with worms can look very healthy. An estimated eight out of 10 cats just in the UK have got worms. You can have the cleanest and most pampered pussy but the good old worm makes no distinction between your dear old moggie and your pedigree. In severe cases worms cause vomiting, lethargy, either diarrhoea or constipation. Weaken your cat?s immune system and result in loss of weight, which leaves the animal open to infection. If untreated your cat may die. There are two common types of worms in this country Roundworms These resemble spaghetti and can be up to 10cm long. They are easily passed from one cat to the other by ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Worms be gone (297 words)

I've recently stopped using using Drontal dual worming tablets for my cats as newer tablets on the market are far superior. However I still use these to worm a stray that wanders in our garden for a regular feed. These cost about £1.50 a tablet so they are cheaper than others but I can remember not so long ago when you could pop into your vets and buy one of these for 50p! You give half a tablet to a small cat (under 2kg) 1 tablet for a cat weighing 4kg but under 6kg and 1 and a half tablets for over 6kg. The tablets themselves, as far as pet medication goes, are huge! If you have a cat who won't eat food with crushed tablet in it you may have ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Drontal Cat Tablets: Drontal.....goodbye worms (146 words)
by - written on 27/10/00 (Very useful, 914 readings)

This product is widely avaliable from your vet, and at one tablet per 4kg of cat is better than the shop bought ones where you have to use 2 or even three tablets per cat, although it may seem to be the cheaper option at the time. Drontal tablets kill both tape worm and round worm, so the two are treated at the same time, which again saves messing the cats around for two separate tablets. As with any tablets cats dont like to take them, but i have found that coating the tablets with marmite helps greatly, plus wearing long sleeved clothes and thick trousers! I usualy de worm my cats every 3 months to make sure we have no problems, they ...  Read the complete review
