Advantages: My cat loves it.

Disadvantages: The price.

I'm sure most cat owners out there will sympathise with me when I say that I have a fussy pussy. My little girl will only eat cat food in gravy but she recently started turning her nose up as I gradually worked my way through the pet food aisle at my local Tesco aisle. Kitekat, Felix and Iams were not to her taste anymore. She refused to eat it, occasionally licking off the gravy but never touching the meat.

She always has a supply of biscuits and fresh water but I was beginning to worry about her lack of appetite. Add that to the fact that she takes great pleasure in pawing me in the face during the early hours when her tummy is rumbling and I found myself at my wits end.

Then I remembered her love of Gourmet Perle which I had treated to her in the past. I went to the supermarket and did my best to ignore the price tags as I stocked up on some single sachets of Gourmet Perle Chicken Feast. On the plus side, the Chicken Feast comes in single serve pouches which I find far more convenient than tins of food. They came in gravy (Squeaky's favourite) and the single serve portion meant I knew she would be getting the right portion of food.

On the downside, there was the hefty price tag. A single pouch costs around 45p and Cadbury eats two pouches of food a day. It may not sound enough to break the bank but it's certainly far more than I usually pay for her food.

I went home and as I unpacked my shopping Squeaky rubbed up and down my legs. Somehow, she knew there was a treat for her hidden in the Tesco carrier bags. As I took one of the pouches out, her eyes lit up in glee. I'm sure she has memorized the packaging of all her favourite meals. As I bent down to put the food into the bowl, I could barely empty the pouch with her head nuzzling to get stuck in.

Needless to say, the pouch was soon wolfed down and she jumped onto my bed to preen herself and fall asleep to dreams of Gourmet Perle and mice.

Being soft as I am, I've not been able to refuse her this little pleasure in life. And so I've continued to buy Gourmet Perle, now purchasing a box of 12 pouches for £4.50 a box. It might not help in my quest to becoming debt free but if it makes my little girl happy it's worth every penny.

The current box I have includes a 'guarantee of satisfaction' which promises 'a truly delectable eating experience or a full refund.' It might be a tempting offer but check your budget first because once you let your kitty sample the delights of Gourmet Perle, you won't be going back to inferior brands!

Summary: Perhaps the most expensive cat food in the world... ever!

Yep, mine are Jelly fans and won't eat anything out of a pouch! Good review

It's funny - my cat, the very stubborn Arthur, won't touch gravy and will only eat the jelly ones. Cats can be very strange when they want to be! Lovely review, things we do for our pets! Eleanor x
