Advantages: they eat it, some cans have lots of jelly, not too expensive

Disadvantages: ought to be more flavours available in single cans, some cans have too little jelly

My two cats are very very particular about food, common in cats I know but they will not even entertain the idea of whiskas, and supermarket own brands are an offence to their senses! For many years they ate Arthurs chunks in jelly and really liked it so when I discovered Purina had stopped producing Arthurs this set off a huge panic. My two only have a small amount of wet food each day with their thyroid medication crushed in it and the rest of the time they eat a dry prescription food but even these two small meals missing would have disrupted them.

I tried them on whiskas and they sniffed it and refused it. I tried a couple of supermarket own brands and wished I hadn't, their accusing little eyes made me feel very guilty for even opening the tin! I had given them Felix years ago and decided to try some of that.

The first thing I noticed about the Felix range is that they seem to have done away with the rabbit flavour, this is a pity as mine adored it when they were younger. I bought a couple of cans of tuna flavour (tuna is definitely a favourite flavour with my two) for about 60p each.

After the compulsory sniffing and looking at me to see if I had some ham or real tuna instead they decided to give it a try. Both ate some and I sighed a huge sigh of relief that I'd found a substitute for Arthurs.

Since then we regularly buy the six packs, they cost about £3.50 and unfortunately always contain a flavour my two don't like, but hardly anywhere stocks single cans in more than 2 flavours so we have little choice.

My two particularly like the tuna, beef and salmon & prawn, and dislike the chicken intensely. They also prefer the tins that contain lots of jelly, some are a bit short on the actual jellyand are very dry and I know part of these tins will be thrown away as mine are jelly fanatics.

I tried the roasted range with them and they hated those, I thought they might have liked them but they didn't at all. They also will not eat any food, Felix or otherwise, that comes from a pouch, don't ask me I'm just their adoring servant!

So felix it is.

Summary: Can't recommend or not, it's really up to your fussy feline!
