375g for 95p! Looks good at first glance. I stood there in the grocery store aisle as my other half did his loser calculations. According to him our normal bag of cat food lasts us 2 weeks and it would take 3 boxes of the Go Cat stuff to last that long. But even so the price was still going to work out less so I over-ruled him and bought a box to see how the cats did with it. By the way there are other pack sizes, 950g and 2kg but our local doesn't seem to have them in stock and I'm way too busy (lazy) to go to another shop.

Purina Go Cat for Indoor Cats is of course geared towards cats that don't go outside. It contains natural fibres to help digestion and also help reduce hairballs that usually happen from excessive grooming. This food contains chicory which is what helps the cats digestion and apparently reduces litter box odours. Cats are more likely to be overweight when they stay indoors which is something Purina has kept in mind and the box actually states that the food contains a good balance of protein and calories to help avoid unwanted weight gain. Maybe I should recommend this stuff to my mum ... her cats are bigger then some pigs!

Our cats do go outside but not on a daily basis. They go out for a couple hours a week and that's all. I think that's why I was pulled towards this type of cat food initially.

The look:

Inside the yellow box is the small round/oval shaped food pellets. The pellets are in a few colours which I guess must be the different meat and vegetable bits. Green, yellow and orange. Did look a bit yummier then their previous food.

Taste test:

No! I didn't try it myself! Our greedy kitty sat at my feet watching my every move with this box of food. He knows when something is for him. Whilst I was still pouring the food into his bowl he had already started eating it. Our other cat slowly made her way down the stairs and tucked in. I usually wait an hour or so to see how the food has gone down. In past experience if it doesn't agree with them it will return by then! Thankfully they enjoyed it.

Dental care:

It's known that crunching on dry food like this helps break-down tartar and keep kitty teeth healthy so always a good idea to give your little ones some dry nibbles even if they end up having wet and dry food everyday (ours do).

When we first got our lovely kitties we chose food that had the highest percentage of meat in it as opposed to so many of the foods around that had water as the first ingredient. I'm not entirely sure where to place Go Cat as it doesn't have as much meat and the first ingredient is cereal but there seems to be a lot of goodness with all the vegetables and stuff like chicory...

Smelly cat:

This food claims to reduce litter box odour! Well our cats are stinky bums let me tell you! And nothing can stop them form bombing the house. They are stinky moggies and no food will change that!

As we'd have to buy more of this then our normal brand it comes down to the storage issue. We don't have room to keep the extra boxes around and I'm not in favour of doing more shopping trips then I have to. If the larger box/bag were sold at my local grocery store I would consider alternating their foods to give them a bit of variety. Maybe I'll buy this every now and again for a little change but not as a regular thing.

Didn't realise that it was so healthily balanced. I sort of assumed the worst as (I think) it's one of the cheaper brands at the supermarket even though it's made by Purina (who I usually think are quite pricey). Might have to give this a go!

Great review - everything I'd need to know and more! Thanks!

My cat loves this stuff, even though he isn't an indoor cat anymore!
