Advantages: It is longer lasting than some squeaky toys

Disadvantages: It squeaks

My collie cross, Moses, is a bit of an enigma when it comes to noise. He hates, the vacuum cleaner, my singing, hairdryers and lawnmowers and will scamper upstairs within nano seconds of hearing any one of those sounds; but give him a squeaky toy, and he is in seventh heaven. It is music to his ears - the louder and more shrill-like the better.

I have bought him numerous loud, squeaky toys, each of which he has managed to de-squeak within a day or so and once it no longer produces a sound other than a phutt of released air, he will then proceed to shred it.

Then a friend of his - and mine - bought him, for his birthday, a Good Boy Spikey Dog Toy ball - complete with that all important squeak, not as loud or shrill as some he has demolished, but he embraced it with his teeth and proceeded to play us a tune.

The ball is about 5 inches in diameter which is what I call 'mouth-sized, ' in that, when tossed to the dog it is large enough to prevent him swallowing - it without decimating it first, yet small enough for any medium size dog to catch.

The toy is a ball shaped face of a dog made of a softish, vinyl-like material its head and back is covered evenly with short about (1cm size ) spikes; even smaller dogs can easily retrieve the ball despite them not being able to get their jaws around it.

Eventually, it did lose its squeak, but surprisingly, Moses has not yet torn it to shreds and still enjoys playing toss and catch games with it. That could be because of the soft texture of the toy, making it more pleasant to play catch and to carry in the mouth.
He has, however, had a nibble at one or two of the spikes, but It will take him a lot of enjoyable chewing before he removes them all. Perhaps he just doesn't care much for the taste.

This is probably the first of his noisy toys that has lasted the longest. I am pleased, though, to have some respite from the squeaks - for a while.
At least I know now, how he feels when I start singing.

Summary: My dog is a good boy and so deserves a Good Boy Spicky toy -squeak'n all

You are right! The toy isn't really suitable for dogs with strong jaws. I am surprised Moses hasn't demolished his yet.

I'm sure Grace and Benson would love this, although they'd probably chew through it in a matter of seconds!
