In the early days of reptile keeping when the needs of animals were little understood, thermostats were seen as a luxury item for those advanced keepers who were breeding the very rare and exotic with the incredibly advance needs in captivity. Now a days, the art of heating reptiles is an aspect that has become much more widely understood, and thermostats have conventionally become a totally necessary piece of kit in any reptile keeping setup.
