Advantages: Cheap and good for my kitties

Disadvantages: One flavour per 2Kg

I have two cats, Ben a big fluffy pouty female, and Jerry a lithe little hyperactive male. Jerry is my oldest and has (fingers crossed) never had any health problems, he is a cross between a Siamese and a mog, I bought him from the local breeder because he loved me as much as I loved him. From the minute I picked him up he refused to be put down (he's four years old now so my arms ache quite a bit as you can imagine). Ben we bought from the same breeder when his Persian met a Tom that wasn't quite kosher and had a litter of beautiful but non pedigree pusses. Ben is my husbands little girl, she has him wrapped around her little paw, but she has had more urinary tract infections/ eye infections/ spats of being generally off colour than any cat I know.

That is at least until we discovered Iams. Iams has fixed Bens urinary tract, she hasn't had an eye infection in six months (a previously unbelievable record) and she has started to be a more sociable cat. After nine months of using Iams we seldom try them on anything else, if not purely because they wont eat anything else then because the difference with their coats to that of my mother in laws cat Tom is to be seen to be believed. She can not feed Tom on just one food he will not eat it. Tom whilst having a lovely thick coat lacks Ben and Jerry's (I know the ice cream, what do you think they were named after) shine and softness.

Not only that but it is remarkably cheap, £13 will buy you a huge bag (it doesn't go off so don't worry about this) which will last my two little piggies a whole month, 70-90 grams is all they will and can eat a day. So if we say 45p for a can of the decent stuff (which only last a day) plus £2 for a box of crunchies a week, you are looking at £21 a month (this is what I used to go through at least).

As an added bonus Jerry who has a Siamese figure, very thin and angled as well as the Siamese talking habit (very annoying at two in the morning
) has finally started to gain some weight. He is starting to look a little less starved and a little more like a plump house cat.

In short I have to recommend Iams but do be careful some cats can not cope with it and are very ill, some just don't like it and others love it like my two. Always though put plenty of water down for them though.
