Advantages: no additives, digestable, tasty

Disadvantages: slightly more expensive than other dry foods

As anyone who has read my opinion in the 'animal welfare' section (titled 'Inbreeding and the kennel club') will know, we have had dreadful trouble with our Siberian Husky’s digestion.
She has had ‘cowpat’ type poo from the day we brought her home from her unscrupulous breeder, and is quite frankly so skinny you would be forgiven for thinking she is mistreated. (She’s not of course!)

We tried loads of different types of food, Eukanuba, Pedigree, Hills Science diet, chicken and rice, tuna fish, Bakers complete etc etc, all to no avail. The vet run numerous tests, faeces, urine, blood etc all came back completely normal.

Then one day at dog training, a lady suggested trying James Wellbeloved, Her dog had a skin complaint that flared up on any other food, and she suspected her dog was allergic to additives in other food that is not present in James Wellbeloved.

Not really believing it would make the slightest difference, we nevertheless decided to try it.
For about a fortnight, ‘cowpat’ poos became proper diarrhoea, then suddenly began to firm up into something that while not quite ‘normal’ at least had some form. Delighted with this, we persevered, and after changing her from the normal adult food, onto the Senior/light version, we finally got the most normal poos we have ever seen from Nanook.

Luckily Nanook enjoys the food – I say luckily because it is all that she can have! She can not have any treats or biscuits or other kind of food.

We are not really sure what it is that Nanook has trouble digesting, but James Wellbeloved is additive free, made from grass-fed lamb, so I am sure there are lots of chemicals missing here that are present in other food.

Unfortunately, though the food seems to have given Nanook fairly normal poos, it hasn’t helped her to put on any weight and she is still skin and bones. We feed her as much a
s she will eat, split into as many meals a day as we can get her to eat. (if she has too much in one go, it passes straight through!)

I would definitely recommend James Wellbeloved if your dog has any kind of food intolerance. We don’t use it for our other dogs as it is slightly more expensive than other dry food, but it is not extortionate, and if you have a problem, it is certainly worth paying the extra couple of pounds.

Our Bearded Collie had digestive problems and possible food intolerance. Our vet recommended James Wellbeloved, problem solved, no messy poo to clear up and a much happier dog.

Believe me, I've tried every way of splitting her meals you can imagine, including some advice from a supposed "expert" telling me to only feed her three or four times a WEEK. Whatever I try makes absolutely no difference, she'll only eat when she's hungry, when she's had enough she stops and won't eat anymore. I even tried feeding her high protein treats, but as with your dog that just gave her more energy so she lost more weight. Eventually I gave in and just let her be!

I have a border collie X briard who has exactly the same problem. If you feed her more it just goes to nervous energy and actually makes her lose weight! I am lucky that because of the briard in her, she has a long shaggy coat that hides the fact that she is skin and bones underneath!! (Always gets a glowingly healthy report on her yearly check-up!)
I have found recently that splitting her food into three small meals a day has helped her to fill out a bit.
