Advantages: Prevents boredom in your dog, easily available and inexpensive.

Disadvantages: None at all.

Kong dog toys
I have 3 Border Collies and they have always had a Kong from when I first had them as puppies.

Reasons to buy a Kong for your dog.
Prevention is always better than cure for behavioural problems. Lack of stimulation, both mental and physical can lead towards many common problems with dogs such as destructive behaviour, nuisance barking and separation anxiety.

Sizes.
Important to get this right as a big dog with a large strong mouth given a small Kong will be able to destroy it due to the leverage it can make with its jaw. Given the right size for the dog Kong’s are indestructible. (Not the puppy Kong)

Sizes are: small/medium/large/extra large and giant.
These are also other variations of the Kong’s such as puppy Kong’s- made in a special teething rubber formula & designed with a puppy’s mouth in mind. (Not indestructible) and also ones attached to a cord that float.

The Kong itself
The Kong is a range of natural rubber toys which are irresistible to dogs whilst providing your canine friend with hours of fun. The taste and smell of the toy l encourages chewing and the unpredictable bounce deflects the dogs hunting instincts into a joyful pursuit and harmless chewing (instead of your furniture!)

A Kong stuffed with tasty treats and foodstuffs turns a safe toy into a stimulating and complex food dispenser keeping your pet amused for hours. My dogs always like a Kong to go to bed with. You can stuff many different treats into a Kong. Mine usually have some of their dried food but you can also fill with such things like canned dog food, mashed potato, mashed banana, & yoghurt. You can also block the little hole at the end and put in water mixed with marmite and freeze (lovely for a hot summer’s day!) Do remember not too let them have this with too many fattening treats. If your dog is on a weight reducing diet you can put some of its meal inside the Kong….make them work for it. If it’s the first time your pet has had a Kong stuff it with something extra tasty like chopped Liver and make it easy to get the titbits out. Watch them roll it across the floor! The Kong will soon be a favourite toy with or without treats! Please remember though to give the Kong a good wash out now and again.

The chase-chew experience, shaped for wild bouncy fun which has guaranteed irresistible natural rubber!

Kong’s can be bought from Tesco’s, Pets at Home, and many other pet shops and also online. They retail from around £4 depending on the size. Every dog should have one!

Summary: Every dog owner should have one!

My Border Collies have had them too - but my niece's dog (Rotty x GSD) managed to destroy hers - one of the big black ones!
