Advantages: All ages can be accommodated
Disadvantages: Quite pricey for what it is
We introduced Millie our Westie to our home a few months ago and did the usual but loads of toys and treats and bits and pieces in order to keep her entertainment, not bored etc. The Kong was one of these.
We got the smaller size which was big enough for her to roll around but not too small that she would swallow it being an adventurous puppy.
My Other Half was horrified at how expensive "a lump of rubber" was but after a couple of days that it took Millie to work out what she was supposed to do with it he has hooked - mainly as it kept her entertained for a relatively long period of time.
She so far has resisted completely destroying it and that s because it is one of her favourite toys. It is fairly resilient and easy to keep clean and wash especially after Millie buries it in the garden in fresh soil.
But it isn't just the chewing and bouncing and burying qualities that attract Millie to this device. The idea is to cram it full of treats and then watch as puppy tries to get them out. Yes you can be unfair and cram them in however this would be silly as they get bored of it fairly early on then and the idea is to keep them entertained and out of your hair for a while!
You could buy special treats and things to use but we just cram in a few pieces of her dry food and that seems to be enough for her to be entertained for a while.
It is easy to wash and doesn't appear to retain smells or anything untoward. I am unsure if it is that hygienic plastic/rubber material but it does clean well - a bit of a scrub in with your washing up does the trick.
I would recommend this as a good toy that is simple and easy to maintain and does keep them entertained and intrigued by the treats they can smell but don't just fall out!
Summary: Good, fun toy that puppies can enjoy
