Advantages: Value for money, provides suitable chewing object for puppies.

Disadvantages: None

The day before I was due to collect my 6 week old Westie pup I headed to Pets At Home to get everything he could possibly need! The bill at the end was over £100 so good job I'd been saving in my 'Puppy fund' for the past few months.

One of the items in my overflowing trolley was a Puppy Kong. It is a sort of cone shaped rubber toy which is hard to explain properly, theres a photo at the top! It is available in three sizes- small, medium and large and two different colours, marbled pink and white or marbled blue and white. I got the small sized blue one which cost £3.99.

The Kong is attached to a white piece of card with the product name, Kong logo and several pictures and bits of information. Inside there is a leaflet which tells you about the Puppy Kong.

Back at home the next day, the Kong was the first toy my newly arrived puppy Max played with. Even though it was the smallest size he struggled to pick it up as he was so tiny but he loved to chase it when I rolled it. As he grew, he was able to pick up the Kong and carried it everywhere with him and loved to have a good old chew at it. When he was loosing his puppy teeth I put the Kong in the freezer for an hour or so to cool it down so when he chewed it helped soothe his painful gums.

Max had the Puppy Kong until he was 10 months old and then I changed it to the smallest size Adult Kong which is red and made from a stronger rubber but he soon managed to chew bits off so I replaced it with the medium size which he has still got now, and he is 4 years old. He plays with his Kong on a daily basis and spends hours just chewing at it but its still in one piece! Both the Puppy and Adult Kongs are hollow and can be stuffed with treats however Max will chew on his Kong without anything inside so we only occasionally stuff it with a few treats.

Every puppy should have a Puppy Kong, it will save your furniture (or you!) from being chewed.

Summary: A fantastic faultless puppy toy. Recommended to every puppy owner
