If you know a friendly dog, have a look inside his ear. Even in the bit you can see quite easily there are a lot of folds. The ear then gets more complicated because the canal makes a right-angle turn towards the ear drum. Wax is just one of the substances produced along the length of the canal to keep it healthy and supple. However, there is the need for another perspective to this matter which needs to be considered: Surely the same advice should apply to dogs as to humans. Any ENT specialist will tell you: Never put anything smaller than an elbow in the ear. While we all love our pets, and my own dogs are certainly no exception, please bear in mind that earwax is produced because we need it to protect the ears.
