      Very helpful

My guinea pigs had some cute bowls that had pictures of guinea pigs and carrots on them. They were really pretty but the sides on them were quite tall, this meant that they would put their front paws in them and tip the bowls to get to their food, subsequently tipping food out into the cage.

I happened to spot these low sided dishes when I was ordering their food, so I added a couple of them to my order.

The bowls are made by Mason Cash and English brand established in the 1800s. Mason Cash pet bowls are endorsed by the RSPCA and they make a payment to the charity each year.

When they arrived I was impressed with them as they appear very well made. Okay so they aren't as pretty as their old bowls in their light brown / beige colour but they are very heavy and chunky.

Measuring five inches / twelve centimeters in diameter two guinea pigs could easily eat from the same food bowl although I bought two just in case one of them decides they are not in the mood for sharing. The side of the dish measures a little over one inch / two and a half centimeters in height, meaning that piggies can easily reach their food although they still like to put their paws in. Even when my youngest piggy Coco was only a couple of months old she found eating from this bowl easy.

The dish is fully glazed and is dishwasher safe. I find the bowls very easy to clean and a wipe down with a damp cloth is sufficient in between full cleans when I use a pet safe disinfectant to clean them.

Unfortunately the only downside to these dishes is that my piggies also enjoy pooping in them. However they have done this with whatever dish they have had in their cage so I think this must be something they enjoy doing.

I paid £2.49 each for these dishes from The Hay Experts which I think is an average price for a small pet dish.
