Advantages: Good to teeth and bones, added vitamins, dogs love them.

Disadvantages: None

*What are Markies?*
Markies are crunchy biscuit treat rolls for dogs made with marrowbone and cereal. They are made by the Pedigree company, a maker of dog food, treats and toys.

*The product itself*
These treats are rather large at around an inch long and quite thick. They have a dark brown crunchy marrowbone centre which is covered in a white biscuit which crumbles easily when bitten by the dog, these would be a good treat to take on dog walks as they don't brake up in your pockets or smell bad either.

*Packaging*
Markies come in red and yellow cardboard boxes which have the Pedigree rosette logo and pictures of a dog and the product. On the reverse on the box is a feeding guide telling you how many to feed your dog per day and also a ingredients list and nutritional information.
Once you open the box it cannot be resealed apart from folding over the top, so the treats should be transfered to another container to prevent them from going stale, although my dogs eat a box of Markies within a week so I don't bother.

*Price & Availabilty*
These are very popular treats which are available in most supermarkets and pet shops, Sainsburys even do their own version simply called Marrowbone Rolls which are cheaper. You can purchase Markies in either boxes of 500g costing 97p or 1.5kg that cost £3.39. There is also a special puppy version of these treats designed for dogs under 1 year old, they cost 99p for a 300g bag.

*What my dogs think*
Markies are most deffinatly a firm favourite with my two dogs and 500g box only lasts a week in my house! Benson, my youngest dog has had these treats since he was a puppy and loves them and will anything for one! Even my other dog Ruby, who isn't usually a fan of dog treats, likes these, although they are a little bit big for her mouth so takes a few bites to eat them. I've been told there are 'Mini Markies' available but I have yet to see them in any pet shop.

*Pro's & Con's*
+ Crunchy texture is good for teeth
+ Marrowbone contains calcium for healthy teeth and bones
+ Added vitamins
+ Almost every dog loves them!
+ Big boxes available
+ Three different flavours
+ Puppy version available

- There are no disadvantages, apart from they crumble and make a bit of a mess when a dog bites into them, but most dogs always lick up the crumbs afterwards anyway so this isn't really a problem!

Summary: One box of treats that is always in my pet food cupboard!
