Advantages: Long lasting, dogs seem to love them

I don't have children yet. I do however; have two border collie dogs which I absolutely adore. I am always looking out for treats t get them while I am out shopping and I also like to try and vary what I get them.

Pedigree Jumbones
Jumbones are part of the Pedigree range. They contain vitamins and minerals which benefit your dog and are also great for removing the plaque from their teeth as they chew on them. Each chew is about 7 inches long by an inch wide. The Jumbone is a beige colour on the outside, with a meaty filing which is a brown colour.
Jumbones are low in fat which I like because I never like to give my boys anything too fattening.

Cost
I either buy this product from Tesco's or from my local Pets At Home store. Each Jumbone costs £1.35 from Pets At Home which is a little expensive compared to some of the other treats but when you consider that these last a lot longer than your average biscuit type treat, then I think the do offer good value for money.

Range
Jumbones are available in two different flavours which are beef and chicken and rice. At Christmas time, they released a Turley flavour one, although I haven't seen it in the shops since then.

Sizes
Jumbones can be bought in three sizes which are small dog, medium dog and large dog. The one I am reviewing is for large dogs.

Mine & My Dogs Opinion
Well, as you have probably guessed, my boys adore treats of any kind to be honest. Having said that, my eldest dog Dax can sometimes be a bit fussy with treats and he doesn't really enjoy the rawhide type ones that are available. He does, however absolutely adore these Jumbones. He does seem to have a real taste for meat and the moment I start to up-wrap these, he comes over to give me a nudge to let me know he wants it.
Once the boys have been given their treats, they tend to march off to their own beds and settle down to eat them. Both of them hold the Jumbone between their front paws, at an angle which them allows them to chew on one of the end. The Jumbones are pretty tough and strong and you can see them both chewing away trying to break a piece off. This is how it helps to get the plaque from their teeth.
I have found that on average, a Jumbone lasts my dogs around 15 minutes which is longer that many of the other treat items I give to my dogs. I think the fact that these treats are so hard, and the fact that your dogs has to work really hard to eat it, means that the treat lasts longer, and also has the added benefit of cleaning their teeth in the process meaning both owner and dog are happy.

Summary
I would highly recommend this product. Jumbones are low in fat, full of vitamins and mineral and also help to clean plaque from your dog's teeth. The one downside is that if you dogs don't eat the treat in one sitting (as mine sometimes don't when they think something better might be happening, such as a walk) then the end where they have chewed tends to get sticky and can leave sticky residue on the carpet. Having said that, on the rare occasion that this does happen, it comes out of the carpet no problem with a quick wipe with a wet cloth.
So all in all, although this product is a little more expensive than some of the other dog treats available, I do think that they still over great value for money, especially when you consider that you dog enjoys them, and they are also beneficial to their health.
