One thing I never scrimp on is my hamsters. I absoloutely adore my Syrian Colin, so much so that when I met another in pets at home one night I couldn't resist and had everything including a new cage already at home that Colin didn't like for him to move into and he now answers to the name of Trevor! I think I may be addicted to hamsters and my flatmate/bestmate is scared lol.
I do spend alot on keeping my hamsters safe, warm, well fed and happy....afterall its my duty. I have ripped up bits of tissue and shredded stuff to pop in their cages to act as bedding and the likes but more often than not I simply prefer to buy a couple of bags of something a week and have done with it really with no messing about. People think I'm mad for buying it, even last week in Asda a check out lady said I had a posh hamster but I believe in getting the right things for them and that is that lol!
This costing me £1.15 a bag in The Range came in lots of different colours of shredded tissue. I spotted pink blue and white and went for white as to me it looks nice and clean when popped in the cages!
The bag the bedding comes in is mainly see-through plastic with bright pink edging to it which creates a see-through heart shape and we are told that it is Petlife Safebed Paper Wool 'Nesting and bedding for rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, gerbils mice & rats and that it is naturally safe and non-toxic and made from plant fibres and contact details for Petlife are given. All that information is listed on the front of the bag and the back of it has nothing wrote on there at all.
What you get is lots and lots of what appears as 2 ply tissues. The two plys come away and the strips are reasonably thickish and long so it basically sort of falls apart with little paws play with it.
To me this simply looks like a cheap kitchen roll but my pair love it. Easy and lightweight to move, easy to store in pouches and get rid of to make their beds with ease my only problem with it is that it makes a right royal mess in the cages with tissue strips all falling apart and it being everywhere!
However this provides a soft bed for them. It is easy to pick up and dispose of and my two have habits of peeing and pooing all over where they sleep and it is asorbent too.
Out of all the bedding I have tried for Colin & Trev they seem to really like this the best and if they like it, it is good enough for me to keep buying!
Available from The Range but google if interested and look in pet shops etc!
