Advantages: More hygienic, cheap, sturdy and durable

Disadvantages: None

The idea of using the same forks that me and my boyfriend eat with for feeding the dogs actually makes me feel slightly physically ill!

I used to use an old tablespoon, however it proved to be a bit messy as the jelly and meat would come out in lumps as it was awkward to mash the food up with a spoon, so when I saw these plastic feeding forks in Pets At Home I decided to get one - at just £1.59 each, they're a bargain and a great idea!

These forks are actually for cat food and they're down the cat accessory aisle in the shop, but as far as I know all tinned food for cats/dogs is pretty similar so I didn't see a problem with buying it for my dogs!

These forks are made of non toxic plastic, which is strong and durable. I was a little worried that the fork would be flimsy or no good at getting big chunks of the food out, but for the price it is suprisingly good quality.

The fork is available in a few different colours which I like - I chose a simple black one, however there's also white as well as brighter colours such as pink and blue. The fork is a decent size and it's a little longer than an average fork, which makes it handy for digging right down into the tin.

The fork has three thick, long prongs, two of which are pointed and one of which has a sqaured end. I find the poined prongs handy as it picks up chunks of food rather than the food just sitting on the fork, if that makes sense! I use the fork for getting the dog food out of tins, but it can also be used with pouches.

The fork is great for mashing the food up thoroughly, too. The end of the fork has a little paw print design which is a nice touch and as there's a small hoop, the fork can be hung up on the wall, although I just keep ours near the tins of dog food.

The fork is really easy to clean and is dishwasher safe, however for hygiene reasons I prefer to wash it by hand which is quick and easy. I always wash it straight after use else the bits of jelly etc left over dry onto the prongs and can be awkward to get off.

Overall, this is a brilliant product - it's good quality, durable and cheap.

Summary: 5/5!
