I recieved these for Christmas the year before last. I have a few Rotastak cages and my friend thought my hamster would like an extension to his cage. I have seen these in pets at home and online before, the reason I never bought them was the cost the cheapest I could find them was £17.99, which I find expensive for a few plastic tubes.
The kit consists of 8 brightly coloured plastic tubes which join together at the middle and are held together by the red rubber circles you can see in the picture and some plastic end pieces which you use to connect it to your cage. The first problem I had with this was putting it together... where to start! As I have found with most Rotastak products the instructions are useless, they consist of pictures and that is it!, I am not sure if this has since changed but I would hope so! The bendy tubes that spiral around in the middle have little holes in them for Hammy to breathe and they join together in the middle and are then held together by a red rubbery piece. The first problem I had was getting the two pieces to stay together while attaching the rubber section. I am very patient normally but after ten or so minutes with the one piece I was getting very annoyed! I also found that as you were joining the curvy bits together that if you didn't bend them at the correct angle they would detach from the red rubber ring.
After well over an hour constructing these they were finally ready to attach to the cage. I would advise you to check that they will fit before attaching them as if you force them onto the cage they can come apart and you have to repeat the whole construction process again.
My hamster (A syrian hamster) loved the tubes he frequently run through them and had no problem in getting around them. However the main thing I noticed was that the tubes became grubby after a few days, you could see where the hamster had dragged food/bedding through them. As all syrian owners know they have a tendency to rearrange their cages. This resulted in me frequently having to remove the tubes and wash them with soapy water. Now I normally give my cage a clean every few days and a thorough wipe out every week or so, these tubes have to be completely taken apart and the only way to clean them is to soak them in water and then scrub them with a cloth, you then have to leave them to dry naturally.
You are then faced with having to construct them again. I got so fed up with this process and the fact they aren't the easiest things to construct I have since removed them from my cage in favour of the Rotastak Tunnel Kit which is far cheaper and much easier to clean and construct.
I would not recommend this to anyone as they are very flimsy and if bend at the wrong angle they can come apart which will result in the hamster making a break for freedom.
The Rotastak Spaghetti Junction Hamster Cage Add On Tubes is a collection of tubes and connection pieces of different shapes and colours. They all fit together vie the connection pieces and can be included in any Rotastak cage system. For around 15£ they provide endless hours of entertainment for you hamster or for your mice.
As rodents naturally live underground in tunnel systems this will provide your pet with the perfect habitat to run around, climb and hide whenever he or she feels like it. With this set you get enough tubes to create a huge tunnel maze and to connect different cages to each other.
The tubes are made of strong plastic so you shouldn't have to worry about your hamster chewing its way out and they also have air holes to provide good ventilation. As they are see-through you can watch your little friend exploring his environment and see how much fun he has playing in there. The tubes can be easily taken apart and cleaned. Only putting them together can be rather tricky and should be done by an adult rather than a child.

The most important thing first - is the Rotastak Spaghetti Junction Hamster Cage Add On Tubes Lennon approved?
Lennon absolutely loves running around the tubes. Although he was a bit shy when we first added them to his normal cage, he soon started to climb around in them. Nowadays it only takes him a few seconds to run through the maze and he seems to really enjoy it.
He is not the smallest of hamsters but he fits through the tubes without problems. However, if you have a particularly big Syrian hamster you might want to try first if your little friend will fit. I doubt that there will be any problems but it's better to be on the safe side. Anyway, if you have Dwarf hamster or mice you will definitely be fine.

Now you already know that Lennon loves it - but what do we think about it?
Me personally, I love the tubes add-ons because it provides endless entertainment for Lennon and for me as well. Not only is it great fun watching him running through the tubes but it is also brilliant spending hours re-arranging the tubes and building him new mazes and adventure areas. You can be as creative as you want; from loops to almost vertical climbs everything is possible. My favourite at the moment is having is main cage on my desk and tubes going down the side leading him to smaller round cages on the floor. To get to his little bedroom he has to climb up another couple of tubes and get around some corners. He absolutely loves it and gets really exciting when I re-arrange his cage once a week.
With my boyfriend however it is a bit of a different story. While I arrange the cage and everything he is the one who will have to put the tubes together. It is quite a flimsy business and you need a bit of practice and patience to get it right. I have neither of those and would probably break the tubes rather than connecting them. This is definitely something that is important for parents to know; young children will probably struggle a bit putting the tubes together so you should supervise when re-arranging the cage.

Would I buy the Rotastak Spaghetti Junction Hamster Cage Add On Tubes again?
I haven't actually bought the first set as it was a kind donation from my housemate but I strongly consider buying another one as soon as possible. Lennon absolutely loves running through the tubes and it certainly makes his life a lot more exciting and entertaining. As the tubes can be connected to every Rotastak Cage System it provides endless opportunities to create new environments and challenges for your hamster. For less than 15£ it is a great investment and well worth every penny spend!
For me the Rotastak Spaghetti Junction Hamster Cage Add On Tubes deserve a clear 10 out of 10!

Thank you for reading and rating my review!
Be warned about Rotastak accessories in general, the cages themselves are pretty small and not suitable for Syrian hamsters due to the size of the wheel and also these tubes. I breed and show Syrian hamsters to National Hamster Council standards, and none of my hams would even get their head and shoulders in the tubes! Even smaller pet shop hamsters would have trouble and I have a friend who has the Creepy Castle cage whose hamster got jammed in the tubes and was stuck there all night - she is quite a small ham. These style of tubes are also a devil to clean, and as hammies tend to wee in the tubes, or wee and then walk through the tubes thus smearing them, cleaning every fortnight at least is a must. Best to save your money towards a decent cage which doesn't have the risk of entrapment and is easier to clean!
