a fun looking mini house for your dwarf hamster

When I purchased my second hamster cage, as my two Roborovski dwarf hamsters decided after 3 months that they no longer liked each other's company I also had to purchase a bed to go in the cage. After browsing the various options in my local Pets At Home store I decided to opt for the Savic house. I already had several Savic products for my hamsters and had been happy with the quality so thought I would stick to a brand that I knew.

The house caught my attention as it was very cute looking like a mini house complete with door and chimney. You could also choose from a variety of colours to match your cage too, I opted for a lime green house to go with the Savic cage that I had chosen.

These Savic hamster houses are still available from Pets At Home stores and currently cost £3.59. I thought that this was quite a reasonable price for a house for my hamster as there were others that were more expensive but not as fun looking.

The house itself is made up of two pieces, the bottom section is a rectangular shape with a round hole at the front which acts as the entrance. The top is the roof which goes up into a dome and is complete with a little square chimney on the top. The top and bottom of the house slot together easily and click into place. I really like the way the house is designed as it is really easy to clean and also allows you to fill it with some nice cosy bedding to make your hamster a dry, warm, cosy shelter. The chimney at the top also allows a bit of extra air to get into the house to make sure your hammy does not get too hot or sweaty especially in the summer months.

My hamster did have a go at chewing this house as they seem to everything and did do a little bit of damage around the entrance. Personally I think this is inevitable with hamsters and to say my hamster had this house for over a year I think the damage was pretty minimal and it is still in good enough condition for me to use again with my next hamster. But my hamster also loved his little house and from the moment I popped him into his new cage with this house in he was straight in there moving his bedding around to just where he wanted it.

Overall I think this a well-designed, durable hamster hideaway and one that I would certainly recommend for dwarf hamsters and purchase again.
