Advantages: Absorbent, can make your own if you want to

Disadvantages: Messy and can make some people sneeze

I don't like sawdust; it's incredibly messy and gets absolutely everywhere! Having said that, if you keep small rodents such as mice or hamsters then it makes an ideal bedding material. It's absorbent and you can get some that smells quite pleasant, at least that's what it says in the pet store!

So, what is sawdust? Well that's an easy question to answer; it's what's left after you've been doing some kind of DIY with wood. My hubby is an expert at making sawdust and he's pretty handy in the DIY department too!

I hear tell that it's not recommended to use homemade sawdust for pet bedding and you're better off buying it in bags at the local pet store, it?s not very expensive either so if you want to get some that's the place to go!
