Advantages: Mew loves it, it smells good and the ingredients are good too
Disadvantages: The price is a bit high
Our cat Mew usually eats Whiskas Complete dry cat food and we supplement his diet with a few treats here and there. We also give him an occasional serving of wet cat food just for a change and we have tried one or two different ones to establish which his favourites are.
The one I gave him a couple of weeks ago was a Sheba Dome containing Prime Cuts of Chicken Breast. This one cost me 68p from Tesco's and contained 80g of food, which would be far too expensive for regular feeds but for the occasional treat I don't mind.
It is called a 'dome' because it comes in a small dome shaped metal container which has a strong foil peel off lid. I think that the idea is to peel back the lid and turn the container over to place a dome shaped pile of the cat food in the cat's bowl.
So what happened in our house then?
I took the little container out of the drawer and immediately Mew's interest was sparked. He knew there was some sort of treat coming as the drawer I used contains all his treats. I pulled the tab on the foil lid and peeled it back easily - incidentally the lid and container both have gold colouring on them and I think each flavour has a different colouring. This is just as well because the dome part just has the Sheba logo on it and the writing on the lid is so small that I need a magnifying glass to read it even when I am wearing my spectacles!
Anyway I digress - back to the cat .....
As soon as the top had been peeled back he could smell the food and he was winding in and out of my legs purring like mad. To be fair the food did smell and look really nice. I am not normally too keen on the smell associated with wet cat food but this smelled like fresh chicken and it looked like it too. If I hadn't known that it was cat food it would have been easy to mistake it for human food it looked that appetising.
As it was only a small serving I put it all into Mew's bowl and spread it out a bit for him using his spoon. He had got his head in it almost before I had put it down on the floor. He loved it! He ate about two thirds of it in one go and then had a bit of a break for about ten minutes and then went back and finished it off.
It's lovely for me when I find something like this that he really enjoys as I don't mind paying a bit extra when he is only having it infrequently especially when he eats it all and licks his lips! Bless him!
The information on the foil lid instructs you to serve at room temperature and feed one pack per meal - pretty obvious then. It also gives the ingredients and the meal is 45% chicken of which 26% is chicken breast.
I shall certainly be buying more of this for Mew as he really did enjoy it and he is such a good cat that he deserves a treat from time to time.
Summary: This is one that Mew loves!
