Super Pet Sleep N Ledge
by hayley_dl When I bought my Chinchillas they came from an ex-breeder. Wanting the best for her pets they came with their cage and all the fittings - one of which was this Super Pet Sleep-N-Ledge designed for Chinchillas, Degus and Chipmunks. What Is It? ~~~~~~~ It is basically a ledge made of untreated wood for them ... to sit on. The ledge has two metal screws on the end which allow you to easily attach the ledge to the bars of the cage. As the picture Dooyoo has shows, these screws are fastened with a small metal circle which fit above and below the two wire bars you are attaching the ledge to. This means that the ledge is held securely in place and is unlikely to slip no matter how much it gets bounced on! The ledge measures 17 x 15 x 3cm so is more then big enough for all the animals it's designed for. My Experience ~~~~~~~~~ Since these came with the cage I didn't have to attach them in the first place, however I did like to take the whole cage apart when cleaning as I like to give it a thorough clean once a week. I can therefore confirm that the screws fastening this to the cage are easy to both tighten up and loosen when needed. I would say that it was no more fiddly then doing a washer up, it's essentially a very similar thing really, just as a bigger version! However the ledge does have a tendency to slip sideways if these aren't tightened enough so it's essential when doing them up to make sure they really are as tight as you can get them. It does say that this ledge is designed to be chewed, however mine never did this and showed no signs of use. I don't know how old they were when I had them but I owned them for two years and it didn't so much as scratch. That said, mine never chewed them either! I also had the Super Pet Lava Ledge for them which is made of coloured pumice and they would always chew that instead. I don't know if it was the fact it was pumice or the fact it was coloured that attracted them but either way it meant this went untouched - however that also means I can't comment on how well this would stand up to being chewed. I can imagine though that since it's plain, untreated wood it would mark and eventually wear down and need replacing. As the chinchillas jumped on this I could hear the bars move with the weight of them but nothing that would concern me. Which, incidentally, is also how I could tell if they weren't tightened enough. If they were too loose the bars moved a lot more and this was clearly noticeable by the sound they made as they were sort of clanging rather then just giving with their weight. As I said before, if they are too loose you really do need to tighten them as they can slip sideways across the bars making it an unstable, and therefore unsafe, landing for your pet. Size wise, this is advertised as being for Chinchillas, Degus and Chipmunks, I would say this is more then big enough for them. I would often find my two Chinchillas quite happily sat on this ledge together asleep. It did look like a bit of a squash to me and there is no way that a third would have fit but it didn't seem to bother them, in fact it seemed to be their favourite bed! Price, Availability And Recommendation ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As this came with the cage I'm unsure as to how much this was new but a quick google has shown that it is available on Amazon for £4.75 plus postage. Please note however, that the picture Amazon show when you search for it is actually the Leap-N-Ledge (same thing, just smaller) but the measurements given match up with this so it is the same thing. My chinchillas loved this addition to their cage and would spend hours leaping up to this and back down again. Although they didn't chew it and I would think that it would mark relatively easily if yours do I can see it lasting a while due to the sheer size of it - it's quite deep as well as wide, and therefore I should think it would be a long time before you need to be replace it. Therefore I am highly recommending it and I'm going to give it the full 5 out of 5. Read the complete review |

Superpet Small Animal Hamtrac
by xxfoxyredxx Anyone who regulary reads my reviews will be very well aware by now that I am absolutely hamster potty! I now own 3 who all have their own balls but to be honest I find that because they are plastic, and hamsters are nocturnal creatures they do clatter the walls and I have neighbours to consider! I bought this 'Hamtrac' in ... Pets At Home for £15.00 a couple of weeks ago. Designed to be used with hamster balls or critter cruisers (which are cars and bikes etc with a wheel on the them for you furball to cruise about in, in style) I felt this could be a quieter option and decided to splash out and treat them a bit! It came in a large red box with a see though window to the front of it allowing you to see part of your track through it and on the front of it there is a photograph of a hamster wearing a crash helmet and we are told that it is Hamtrac By 'Superpet' and that is is designed to be used with Super Pet Run-About Exercise Balls and 'Critter Cruisers' and that it is fantastic fun for hamsters, Gerbils, Pet Rats and other furry friends!'. Other information on the box includes being told the size of it which is 2ft by 4ft and we are told that it contains 8 pieces of track and contact details for Superpets are given and there are photographs of kids and hamsters and things on this as well as a photograph of the track so you can see how to put it together and how it should look when made up. Nice enough informative packaging this is and simple to open etc. The Hamtrak Itself: This has no instructions in the box or on the box really apart from the photographs I have already mentioned. What you basically get is reasonably wide and black plastic pieces of track with holes in and rather raised smooth edges (to keep the balls and/or the critter cruisers on the track a bit better) and its made up of 4 straight pieces and 4 curved pieces and they alll simply slot together with ease and really securely and it stays that way. Its wipe clean, easy to put up and or down (so storage isn't a problem and it sits flat against my deep pile carpet which is something that concerned me! This is a rather large track and it wasn't until I started writing this review that I noticed on the box we are told to purchase the Super Pet Run About Exercise Balls and I used my own. I have a Rotastak large one, a green large plastic one from Pets At Home and a really small blue one for my tiny Russian Dwarf also from Pets At Home and they are completely fine on it, thankfully. They roll around with ease once your furry friend understands what to do and that is the Hamtrak! These are also suitable for most Critter Cruisers and all in all I am really glad I chose to buy this. I can put all three of my hamsters on at once though I do get a traffic jam situation or simply pop one on but you do need to always watch just in case the ball or critter cruiser comes off but I've had no issues with this just one doing a Houdini act on me when my back was turned for a second! I think this can be a bit boring for them but I use this for small amounts of time. Is it worth the money? Well it is well made and sturdy, easy to assemble and keep clean and so I have no complaints however this isn't a must have item and it does take up floorspace if like me you don't want to keep putting it up and down so it really isn't necessary! Available in all good pet shops etc and from wwwsuperpetusa.com (the manufacturer of the product). Read the complete review |

Super Pet Igloo Hide-Out
by WackoStepho As an owner of 3 gorgeous guinea pigs I know that to feel safe and secure they need a hidey house in their cage at all times; what makes this Super Pet Igloo different from other houses is that it is constructed out of semi transparent plastic - this is a clever trick that enables you to see your pet whilst it is in the igloo yet your ... furry little friend can remain undisturbed. Pigloos as I like to call them come in a range of colours and sizes, they look like castles which I think is cute and most importantly they have air vents enabling ventilation and your pet to breathe. The house is one piece of molded plastic and is surprisingly strong. Due to the fact that it is plastic, this hide is very easy to clean and really only requires a quick wipe with a damp cloth and perhaps some animal friendly disinfectant. Pigloos are also stain resistant as well as odour resistant too - this means that they never get pee pee stains or start to smell, yay! Due to the shape of them you can position the pigloo anywhere and I think that they really help to liven up a cage, the bright colours look great and your pet will always feel safe in their own little hidey hole. I love the fact that they are so easy to clean and that your pet will always stay well ventilated, for two pigs I would recommend the giant size which is also suitable for small rabbits. Prices vary for these igloos depending on where you shop but for the giant size you can expect to pay anything from £8.00 to £10.00 or more. These houses do last a long time and unlike wood there is no risk of them rotting or holding fungal spores, they can of course be chewed, but then again, small furries pretty much chew everything!
