Advantages: Well thought out design.

My five silkies (type of chicken) love their new hutch! It came flat packed and the instructions that came with it for assembly were easy to follow. It wasn't long before it was in place and the 'Spice Girls' (names of my silkies) were introduced to it.

It has a nesting box and perch which isn't visible in the photograph but sits at the back. This has a flap that lifts up and allows you to collect those fresh eggs each day.

It has the main bedroom area where they take themselves at night. It is easy to clean out as it has the door which you can see in the photo (left with four windows) giving you access. Access from the bedroom area is via a ramp to the main enclosure. A sliding door keeps the chickens inside. I close the sliding door at night so they are well tucked up in their bedroom!

The main enclosure where they spend their day is adequate for small chickens although mine have a bigger run I let them into. I wouldn't want to add anymore chickens if they were not let out during the day. The bedroom enclosure is well adequate and could take several more for sleeping as they tend to sleep on top of each other.

The main enclosure has a door section (middle third in the photograph). This has a bolt top and bottom. The door gives easy access to the enclosure.

My only gripe with this hutch is the bolts - three of them. These are very small. They are just a bit fidly to do but my concern is after one winter how easy will they be to open and lock. I guess time will tell.

Overall a great product if you have decided to keep chickens and not too may of them.
