Advantages: Variety of different types and flavours. Cheaper than other brands.

Disadvantages: None.

We have been trying to cut down on our food bill since the arrival of our baby in August so thought it was only fair for our dog to cut down on her food bill too!

Having tried various other cheaper brands of dog foods such as the Asda Hero range and Pal it had got to the stage where she would only eat Pedigree Chum or Butchers, both of which are fairly expensive brands.

We started her off with a tin of Tescos own supermeat which she really enjoyed. The meat looked no different to Pedigree Chum or Butchers. We have since tried the chunks in jelly and casserole selections and all the varieties seem to have plenty of chunks of meat in them and seem to be of equal quality to the more expensive brands.

There are various choices in the Tesco premium range:

12 x 400g cans Supermeat for £3.92 with four different flavours - Lamb & Rice, Beef & Heart, Chicken & Sunflower Oil and Rabbit

12 x 400g cans Chunks in Jelly for £3.72 with four different flavours - Lamb, Chicken, Tuna and Beef

12 x 400g cans Chunks in Gravy for £3.92 with four different flavours - Pork Liver & Vegetables, Beef & Poultry, Game Chicken & Carrotts and Turkey Lamb & Vegetables

6 x 400g cans for £1.98 Supermeat - you don't get the rabbit flavour with this choice

6 x 400g cans Chunks in Jelly for £1.98 - you don't get the beef flavour with this choice

6 x 400g cans Chunks in Gravy for £2.19 - you don't get the turkey flavour with this choice

1 x 1.25kg can for £0.92 - Chunks In Gravy Game Chicken & Carrot
Chunks in Jelly Lamb & Turkey

24 x 400g cans Chunks in Gravy for £7.43 - same flavours as 12 cans

They also do Senior Dog Supermeat - 6 x 400g cans for £2.34 in 3 flavours - Beef & Heart, Chicken and Rabbit

They also do Puppy Supermeat - 6 x 400g cans for £2.08 in 3 flavours - Beef & Heart, Lamb & Rice and Chicken & Sunflower Oil

Summary: A good alternative to the more expensive brands
