Advantages: Hard to chew, comfortable, easy to wash

Disadvantages: Price

I bought a pretty fleecy blanket for our new puppy just before we picked her up and with in days it was ripped to shreds. She was luckily quite sensible and spat the bits out but she just could not resist ripping up the bedding every night. Several blankets later I mentioned this to a friend and he suggested vet bed. I was rather staggered by the price but he assured me it would be indestructible and it was. Puppy is now 18 months old and her vet bed is her prized possesion. She takes it every where with her and although she manages to rip a few bits off the edge she has yet to completely destroy a piece.
Vet bed, as the name suggests, was originally used by vets and has moved into the pet market. Vets like it because it can be washed on a hot wash. I find it washes well and comes out of the washer nearly dry as most of the moisture spins out. I wash mine fairly regularly to stop the doggy smell and it refluffs (is that a word?) it for her. Vet bed comes in different grades with some extra thick piles for elderly or arthritic dogs. I bought the standard and which my dog seems to find confortable, indeed she carries it around to sit on.
One other big advantage to vet bed is it can be bought off a roll so you can buy whatever size or shape you want or cut it down to size.
The only disadvantage is the price but it is probably cheaper than replacing chewed up blankets all the time.

Summary: An excellent bedding for chewy puppies

Aww bless. My dog when he was a puppy chewed through three pairs of slippers, two remote controls, one mobile phone and one of a pair of trainers. Didn't touch his bed:-)
Lovely review.
