I first bought this product after seeing it on a pet stall on the market and the word "donut" intrigued me. I didn't think hamsters could have cake products or peas.. but seeing as there was a photo of a hamster on the pack, I thought they must be safe so gave them a try. After getting them home and having the "what have you bought... they look weird" discussion with my husband, I put one of the donuts in the top of my hamster's Rotastak cage. Sure enough within about 10 seconds the hamster had roused, legged it up three tubes and was merrily tucking in to the donut. Yay we thought and left it to have its tea in peace. Shortly ... Whatever next, donuts for hamster, well yes it is a real product and let me tell you about them. Well whilst in my local pet store at the weekend buying some hamster bedding I took the opportunity to have a look at the current range of hamster treats that they had in stock as I like to give our hamster, Max a bit of variety with his treats and came across these. At first I thought I had misread the label but on closer inspection I found that I was not mistaken you can now get donuts for your little furry friend. Vitakraft hamster donuts are a lovely little treat for your little friend. Although they are called donuts they dont look like donuts to me, the only resemblence to a donut is that they have a hole in the middle, they look more like little fairy cakes very similar looking to what we would eat except these have peas in them. These are intended as a treat and advertised as a treat inbetween meals, i give these a lot more sparingly than that though, i only alow one each week as they contain quite a lot of sugar and glucose syrup so are not realy that healthy for your little friend so bear this in mind when giving them to him.
