Advantages: Convenient, healthy, nutritious, tasty?, good value.
Disadvantages: None for us
With two hungry nosed dogs to feed I am always on the look out for convenient, cheap, nutritious and healthy dog food. Both of my dogs were rescued and consequently both, but one in particular, have big issues with food. Starvation does that to them. However the other aspect with rescue dogs is that they can have dodgy tummies. This can be through maltreatment, the aforesaid starvation or having experienced bad feeding habits.
I try to stick to tried and tested dog foods on the whole but, just like people, they get bored and need a change occasionally. Also it is worth bearing in mind that manufacturers may change the ingredients slightly over the years, adding something which your dog may be allergic to. Having had one dog suffering from a severe allergic reaction this year, due to building materials he came into contact with around the home, I certainly don't want to open up that can of worms again.
I usually feed my dogs tinned dog food and add a dry mixer. The mixer I used to feed them with was ready for a change. I found that it was always left in their dishes so I guessed they were trying to tell me something. Bright aren't I?
I settled for Wagg Complete as I had heard good reports about it. Well the dogs certainly seem to like it so it was a good choice. Compared to others similar feeds it was competitively priced. There are a few varieties and I usually buy the Original Beef and Veg, and the Chicken and Veg variety. The first is packed with a red flasher the second with a blue.
I buy 2.5kg bags which, unfortunately, do not have a carrying handle. The price has risen in price dramatically this year and is now £5.70 a bag from Asda. You can probably pick it up cheaper if you shop around. However as the dogs fair well on it I am not thinking of changing brands at the moment.
I cannot obviously comment on the taste of this food as Hubby flatly refused to try it. Only joking. However the pooches love it.
Wagg is a complete dog food so, if that is how you served it I do not know if it would work out cheaper than tinned dog food or not. However I add a handful to the tinned fdog ood and this seems to keep the dogs poopy habits regular and normal.
Wagg claims to have valuable antioxidants which can help a dog stay healthy. It also has no artificial colours, or flavours, added. Wagg also has zinc added with Omega oils which should help a dog's coat, plenty of vitamins, fibre, calcium and, wait for it, a Yucca extract which is supposed to prevent dogs having smelly wind. I cant say that I have noticed the last one though, unfortunately. Perhaps that is the wet dog food I also feed them.
The bag has a full feeding guide which would be helpful for the inexperienced dog owner. I am pleased to note that Wagg only has 21.0% protein which is good. Dogs can get hyperactive if feed on a diet of high protein foods and treats so watch out.
So all in all a good food for your doggie.

Please note that there are varieties for puppies etc but we have only sampled the regular variety.
Summary: A great all rounder
