Whiskas Pouches
Description: Brand: Whiskas / Food Type: Cat Food
I suspect that even non cat owners will recognise this brand, it has been around for what seems like forever. These pouches be bought on their own or in packs of 12 or 24 (which works out to be more economical) and retail for around £0.40 per pouch or £3.25 for a pack of 12. I haven't bought the 24 packs so am unsure of the cost of these.
This cat food also comes in different flavours, there are meats or fish in jelly, meats or fish in gravy and some with vegetables too. This means there is a wide choice to give your cat, and let's face it, we wouldn't want to eat the same thing every night, so why should cats be any different. Also, my cats are very quick to turn their nose up at anything they don't like, so I take care to try and give them a varied diet which they will enjoy.
We usually buy Felix or Tesco's own cat food (for some reason they prefer the Tesco one to any other, which is great as it is cheaper - watch out for the review anyday now!) but had to go to a corner shop in a hurry and this was what they had. I got a pack of the meat in jelly, went home and served it to the Siamese.
They seemed happy enough with this variety - they didn't eat it all at once like they do with something they really love, but they did go back 20 minutes later and finish it, generally the sign of a happy feline!
So in summary, I would buy this again. They weren't especially delighted, but they certainly were not put out by being served this food either so that works for me. I will return to the Tesco one, simply because they seem to love it so much, (it is worth noting that Whiskas is a little more expensive than some brands, but if you are like me, you don't mind that if it keeps them happy) but I would definitely get this again if I couldn't get their preferred brand.
Because they are pouches, it is easy to squeeze them into their bowl and of course, it means that every serving is fresh, the amount that you feed depends on whether they are also eating dried food, and as always, allow a plentiful supply of fresh water too - result, happy cats!
Summary: Definitely worth buying
