Advantages: my cats like them

Disadvantages: your cats might not like them

Picture this.

The cats are giving you the royal wave at the back kitchen door. (The ‘royal wave’, as we call it, is paw outstretched against the glass on the door, arse stretched out, furry belly showing). This is the signal that my cats want to come in. They miaow, or bellow in the case of foghorn gob Molly, crawl round my ankles till I give them their tea.

They go up to the food, sniff and lick then run off.

Sound familiar.

But what makes them come back and gobble it up?

We originally were given a sample pack of Whiskas Pouches in the post. They passed the sniff, lick and gobble up test so we decided to purchase some more. They are available at most supermarkets. Whiskas pouches are £2.76 for a box of 12 pouches. I recently purchased the poultry selection, which includes, Chicken, Poultry, Duck and Turkey in a delicious jelly.

Sounds yuck to me, especially as I am a vegetarian. It is as appetising as licking your bum. But then cats like doing that don’t they?

Cats are notorious fussy buggers. My cat’s like these so they get a big thumb up from me, but they might not agree with your cats’ sophisticated taste so I can’t really recommend them. If they love stuff in jelly, these are great.

TASTE

Well if they taste like they smell I’d say a bit like cornbeef, the smell of most catfood. Not that I’ve tasted it you understand.

PORTION SIZE

My adult cats have half a packet each at teatime. They have tinned cat food for breakfast and munchies for supper. These sachets are easy to prepare as you can squeeze half out at a time without making a mess. The good thing about these pouches is they eat a whole one between them, so there is none leftover. This save them having chicken say for two meals on the trot and they have more variety. They also don’t need as much mashing up, to make them digestible for the cats.

The cats like these better than the food in the tins, as sometimes they leave the tinned food but not these sachets. However, they aren’t as enthusiastic for these as they are for munchies.

In our house at 11pm approx. we have what we call ‘The Ceremony of the Sh*t Tray’. This is when my dad goes into the garage to get the litter tray. The cats hear him and get all excited, as they know it is ‘munchie’ time. Blue goes to the dining room window, sees the light go on in the garage and does her famous Mr Ed (talking animal) impression. She moves her mouth but hardly any sound comes out. Blue also does this when she sees birds. It’s hilarious. Molly stands near the kitchen. Light goes out in the garage. They both run into the kitchen and when my Dad re-enters the kitchen FOGHORNS greet him.

Your 'foghorn gob Molly' sounds like my cat Oreo. Great review on this product, my cats love it too.
