Advantages: My cats love them, not too expensive

Disadvantages: Not all cats will like them

I have two cats both of whom eat the majority of things. I'm always on the look out for different treats for them - mainly as a means of coaxing them inside the house!!! We let them out when we're at home but they stay inside when we go out, therefore if we're going out I need a quick and effective way of getting them inside. I thought these might be good as they come in a small plastic tub that I can shake, and my cats respond well to noises they recognise.

Whiskas Temptations come in 60g plastic boxes that are shaped like the Whiskas "cats head" logo. They come in 3 flavours - beef, chicken & cheese or salmon and cost about 91p per tub, but this can vary depending on where you buy them. They are small brown pillow shaped treats, anout 1cm long, that have a crunchy shell and a soft centre. There are quite a lot of them in each packet so they are good value for money.

Temptations are recommended as an occasional treat and to supplement a cat's diet. They can be fed to kittens after they are weaned. I give my cats on average 2 a day and a box usually lasts me just over a month.

When I first bought a box I opened it and let my cats sniff it. Both were desperate to stick their noses in the box and when I gave them one each they were desperate for another. I've tried various other treats for my cats - some they love, some they can take or leave and a couple they won't touch with a barge pole. Theses treats definitely fall into the "love" category. If I want them to come inside all I have to do is shake the box at the back door and they appear within seconds (they don't wander far anyway). Then they practically climb my leg to get to them! When they're in the house all I need to do is appear with the box in my hand (without shaking it) and they're all over me.

They don't appear to have a flavour preference. I tend to buy a different flavour each time for variety but I don't think they would care if I bought the same one all the time!

The only downside for me is that I try to recycle as much as I can but I can't recycle this type of plastic where I live so the empty boxes to have to go in the bin. But as I can recycle most other things, I don't let this put me off buying them.

I doubt every cat would like these as cats can be so fussy, plus I have a friend who's cat turns her nose up at them!! But I would say give it a try.

Summary: They're an affordable treat from a trusted brand and my cats highly recommend them!!

I think the kitty-shaped box is totally cute but have thus far resisted the temptation. My cat eats enough as it is - she's totally greedy!
