Advantages: Two of my moggies go mad for them, an inoffensive smell, cute pot

Disadvantages: My third cat can take or leave them

I have three cats who I like to treat, two of them were rescue cats and have very sensitive tummies which I believe is down to being poorly nourished by their previous owners. For this reason the richer treats my original cat was used to has proved too heavy for Tigger and Sooty so I tend to stick to these Whiskas Temptations which are a light snack for cats and suit all three of my moggies.

I wouldn't have given them a second glance to be honest but was sent a couple of boxes in the post to test out for a survey site, my cats loved them so much that I made a point of looking out for them in the supermarket and luckily they became available soon after.

The temptations are small squares of biscuit which have a soft centre, it appears that the crunchy biscuit is fairly neutral flavoured while the salmon flavouring is packed into the chewy middle. This is of course going by scent alone as I certainly haven't tried them myself! The biscuits are the perfect size in my opinion, my cats all have great fun with them and they're small enough that even the greediest cat isn't likely to choke itself but big enough for a toss in the air if my cats' feel the need to 'kill' their treat!

I love watching my cats as they eat these snacks, the outside really is crunchy and I can hear them munching away from the other side of the room. They all push the pieces of biscuit to the back of their mouth and have a really good chew on it, they look interested in the treat and all sit quietly while eating before running back across for another one. I believe the action of chewing these hard biscuits is good for my cats' teeth while they must be able to smell the salmon centre because sometimes they work so hard to get to it that there are often biscuit crumbs all over the floor as they waste half of the treat just to savour the fishy smelling salmon. Mind you, greedy Tigger will hoover up all the bits afterwards so I don't mind how much mess the other two make!

To be completely honest about the product, Sooty isn't always overly keen. While the other two will always relish their Temptations I find Sooty can take or leave them. He hasn't got a big appetite anyway and very often will just eat one of his two treats and sometimes will turn tail and walk away when I offer him one, this is fine and I just put his share back into the pot but just bear in mind that not all cats will adore these treats as they are by nature such fussy and pernickity creatures.

I usually give Heidi, Tigger and Sooty two treats each and with the three I find I get through just over one pot a week. This is wonderful in my opinion and as they cost just £1.05 for a 60g pot I think this represents good value for money, they can sometimes be found on special offer although I find these promotions are few and far between.

There are another two minor points worth mentioning about these treats. One is that the smell isn't offensive at all, they have a rather salty and delicate fish aroma which although I don't find pleasant isn't like other treats I've tried in the past. Cat owners will know what I mean, how can they make dog food smell meaty and fresh yet cat food usually smells vile? Another thing is the wonderful pot these treats come in, it's a sturdy purple plastic pot - don't throw it away, it's just too cute! I have twelve of them sitting on my kitchen window ledge with sunflowers just starting to poke through, these pots look so much lovelier than yogurt pots and boring brown plant pots!

Summary: Tempting my cats with Whiskas!
