Snakes:
... Python. The Royal Python is a very docile member of the python family often called the ball python as rather than attack when threatened curls up into a tight ball. The best environment I noted was a 4 foot by 2.5 foot glass fronted tank with a heat mat which must remain covered, I prefer 2 pieces of suitable carpet as 1 can be removed and washed and the other to replace it, this makes it easier to find and r... Their pleasant disposition, ease of care, and the explosion of colour and pattern mutations onto the reptile scene all contribute to their popularity; and I would now say they have over taken Corn Snakes as the most popularly kept snake in the UK. It is absolutely paramount however that you do sufficient research before you buy a snake, otherwise it will probably die as some unfortunately do, and this will not go very far to improve the image of the current reptile hobby, with the majority of the public still wondering why on earth... So when my husband told me as long as I read up on Snakes and got to know my stuff I was allowed one, I hit the books and net, and started saving up!!!! In March I went into a pet shop to look at the snakes (yes I did that alot!!!) and there was a baby albino corn snake, two months old sitting in its little hatchling box. And I just had to hold him, so the man passed him over to me and h... Read the full review: Snakes: reptiles rock! :-D by stephbond89 |

Western Hognose ... Western Hognose is a delightful little snake to keep. I ve been keeping snakes for 25 years but got my first "hoggy" just last autumn. He s still a baby and has just taken his first three-pinkie meal. When I first got him he hissed and rattled his tail rather amusingly and headbutted every time I went to pick him up but once he adjusted to life with me and realised I was no threat that behaviour ceased and he now enjoys being picked up and handled. He likes curling up in my palm and being stroked on the back of the head. At this stage he s still in a shoe-box style vivarium, albeit a larger one now, and on kitchen paper. He has a cave to hide in and a wa... Read the full review: The Western Hognose - a perfect pet. by Yvonne Wilson |
