When I was little I stood on a huge bee and have since had an irrational fear of them. If they come near me then I panic and no matter where I am, I will throw a fit not worrying who sees me or who hears me! The stupid thing is that bee's don't sting unless you upset them and I'm pretty sure the calmest of bee's would be upset by all my shouting and wailing!

If you don't know then bee's play a huge role in the pollination of flowers. If they didn't do what they do then approximately one third of our food wouldn't exist because we rely so heavily on them doing what comes naturally to them.

As most of us will know, bees not only do a wonderful job of keeping the plantlife in the world going but they also make amazing honey which can differ from colony to colony. I once tried some beewax from a friends beehive and it tasted so much nicer than anything bought form a shop.

I know I said I don't like bees but that's only if they are near me. I actually think they are beautiful; I think if they were a human then they'd be a big fat nana. There bodies are big, fat and chunky and the colouring is amazing especially the fact that they would be dull and black if they didn't collect the nectar from the plants.

If you want to know more about bees in child friendly way then you should watch 'Bee movie'. I actually learnt an awful lot from watching this film with Noah and it really is surprising at how hard these little creatures work.

All in all, the bee is a great little creature that works every single day of its life until it dies at the age of from 50 days to 5 years depending on who it is! Imagine that?
