Budgie:
... hard beak was like a claw, not to mention his claws! 3) He wouldn t shut up. Even with a blanket over his cage at night he would wake us up at 5am some days. I nearly put that blanket over his head! 4) Birds are meant to fly, and they shouldn t be kept in a cage. We let Blue out quite a bit but still, why lock up something and prevent it from being able to do one of the only things it can do really well? I su... Budgie ... dad is a bird man and although his dream was to own a bird of prey, he dulled down his desire with other birds that were cheaper and easier to care for, one being the good old budgie. I developed the same passion for birds and it wasn t long before I wanted my own personal bird to care for. The most memorable budgie we had was a little blue and white one called Sky . When we bought him home he was so shy and would peck out fingers to pieces if we went anywhere near him but with some time and patience, he turned into a wonderful companion. He would land on you if you shouted his name, he would play football with a small ball and he would even eat off your plate when i... Read the full review: 'Who's a pretty boy then? by Claribella |

Ducks ... looking through the pets and animals pages I have realsied how many animals I have owned over the years. Some of them are very normal whilst some are a little random like the two ducks we were given who we named Ronnie and Grace. Now you may say well ducks are such a random animal to have as a pet . My reply to this would be Yes it is when you live in a terraced house in a built up area . We actually didn t know what we were taking on when we were given these tiny little hatchlings that sat in the palm of our hands! At first they were so small and reliant on us but it soon became clear that they weren t going to stay that way. The rate they grew was absolutely mi... Ducks ... had two ducks - Ronnie and Grace. We got them as one week old chicks and hand reared them in the house under heat lamps. After a while they went into the garden, and finally they got too much for us wo we drove an hour away and released them with other ducks. We went back to them every day for a while and then every week and finally after a year or so they disappeared to who knows where. Keeping them was a real adventure, and here s what I learnt! 1) They grow quickly - literally every day I could tell the difference, from tiny chicks to huge great swan-like things. If tame and domestic they will be more like swan-size than wild ducks as they eat so well. 2) They poo...
