An all round wonderful dog! (Border Collie)

Advantages: Smart, good with children, beautiful.

Disadvantages: None that I can think of!

I had a border collie and my friend has a few, and they are one of my favourite breeds of dog.

Originally they were bred to herd sheep, so they are known to be hard working. Also because of this, they are energetic and they need a lot of exercise. Therefore, if you are thinking of getting one you should make sure that you can give it all the exercise it needs- more than many other types of dogs (although it goes without saying that all dogs must be exercised).

Border collies are normally blakc and white but they an be other colours as well, like brown and white, or three coloured, brown black and white.

These dogs are well known for being some of the smartest, ut they do need to be trained (again, as with all dogs). Also, being so smart, they are perhaps easier to develop a relationship with that some other breeds of dog.

In my experience, these dogs have also been good with children. However, perhaps it is est not to leave a dog alone with any child (although obvious, I thought I would add this disclaimer)!
