Advantages: Incredibly alert and intelligent.
Disadvantages: May not be suitable for children.
I am not a huge dog lover by heart. I dont like it when they come near me, jump up at me, slober all over me and scratch me, and god forbid get my things dirty!! However, I was bought up with a Border Collie which I loved very much and therefore out of all the dogs I have ever heard about or come across, this is by far my favorite.
Border collies, are slender, with medium legnth hair covering their body and ears. They are a mixture of black and white. Their ears are perky and upright and they have a very alert look to their face. They are medium sized dogs.
Their temporament and personality are very particular. They are also known as sheep dogs as they are famous for rounding sheeps. Border Collies are most commonly owned by farmers who train the dogs to round up their sheep at the end of the day to bring them in.
Border Collies are highly intellegent and require a high level of mental stimulation on a day to day basis along with physical walks. They are quite highly strung, which some say makes them unsuitable for having with children, except I was a born into a family with a Border Collie, named Emma. Emma was a fantastic family dog, she was great with children, and even guarded my cot!
Summary: Great fun dog.
