Advantages: Intelligent, loving, protective companion. Everyone's best friend.

Disadvantages: Needs lots of excerise and commitment.

I have a 7-month-old Border Collie Bitch who I got from the NCDL. She was dumped on the M6 with her brothers. They were thankfully rescued with no harm either of them.

I chose a Border Collie because I’ve only heard well about them. I have known quite a few different breeds of dog and a Border Collie is my definite favourite. They are extremely intelligent, loving, protective and a wonderful companion. They need a large garden with extra exercise (E.g. Walks), which can be a pain especially in the winter.

I’ve never had a problem with aggressiveness towards anyone, let alone children, a well-trained dog can be a pleasure and a well-trained Border Collie will give you more than you could wish for. Not many breeds of dog could heard sheep and help police look for drugs, there is no end to what a Border Collie is capable of.

Those of you who own a Border Collie know what I mean, and those of you who are considering a dog as a pet, this dog, as all dogs is a large commitment, but undoubtedly a man, women and child’s best friend.

They are excellent guard/home dogs, combined with a loving, caring and almost considerate family dog, and an excellent combination in my opinion.

Ditto I got my Border Collie puppy from the NCDL and she too gets on great with my 2 year old. They are a perfect match.
