Boxer ... muzzle. Boxers have very strong jaws and a powerful bite. They are part of the Molosser group of dogs, bred from the extinct German Bullenbeisser and the English Bulldog. Based on 2006 American Kennel Club statistics, Boxers are the seventh most popular breed of dog in the United States - a position they have held since 2002 - with approximately 35,388 new dog registrations during the year. The head is the most distinctive feature of the Boxer. The breed standard dictates that it must be in perfect proportion to his body and above all it must never be too light.[9] The greatest value is to be placed on its muzzle being of correct form and in absolute proportion to the skull. The length of the muzzle to the whole of the head should be as 1:3. Folds are always indicated from the root of the nose running downwards on both sides of the muzzle and the tip of the nose should lie somewhat higher than the root of the muzzle. In addition a Boxer should have a slight underbite, i.e., the lower jaw should protrude beyond the upper jaw and bend slightly upwards.

Hes a real cheeky thing, and I've found all the other Boxers I've met over the years are the same. Loveable rogues! I have read that the name Boxer came from the fact that they do everything with their front paws. In my experience I think this could be true. If one of my two has had enough to eat or on the other hand, if they are hungry, th...more

A few years back me and my husband decided that it was time for a family pet, so we started looking in to several different breeds of dogs and their temperaments. We have 2 children, so the dog had to be good around them no matter what. After a bit of research, we came across a breed that on paper sounded perfect... a Boxer. What does the dog look like? Boxers are, in my opinion, a gorgeous looking dog. They are short haired and medium - large in size. Tail docking was banned completely in Great Britain last year, but prior to this, the breed was docked. Boxer's faces are cute and wrinkly to the head, with floppy cheeks. Looks very cute, but not great ...

All my life, my family has owned Boxers and they have all been comedians on four legs. Our current Boxer even knocks on the door when he wants to be let inside! They aren't the smartest dog, but that's what makes them so funny. They are quite strong and enthusiastic, especially with little children (although we have had a few incidents when he has jumped up and scared little ones). They are beautiful dogs and are by no means "handbag dogs". Our dogs eats a lot and has not an ounce of fat on him, he is purely muscle and bone! They need to have somewhere to run or be walked almost every day (even if only for 5-10 minutes) and you could let them inside the house ...

+++Introduction+++ If ever there is a breed of dogs to which the saying "looks can be deceiving" applies then it is the Boxer. Anyone who is a bit familiar with the breed knows that they are a slimmed down and very domesticated version of the bullfighters of bygone times and that boxers have their origin in Germany. To some people they may look frightening and intimidating, but know that behind that exterior hides one of most gentle characters in Canineland. Now having entered their third century of existence Boxers still are enormously popular amongst the fans. I wouldn't claim myself to be the number one expert at all but as I am now on ...
