Advantages: look good, nice temperament, good with children

Disadvantages: need quite a bit of exercise, but if you like dogs this shouldn't be a problem

I'm a dog lover and have two Border Collies myself. One of my other favourite breeds is Boxers; I think they're great dogs. They have fantastic faces, unlike no other breed really, it's almost like they have the same expression twenty-four hours a day. I've never actually owned one myself, but I do know a few people with Boxers and they think they're great, as do I.

They originate from Germany and are descendants of the English Bulldog. They are medium sized dogs, similar in size to Retrievers and Labradors, but tend to be very muscular and stocky; this can be a problem when they're young and still being trained, especially the males. Once out of their 'puppy day' they are characterised by being intelligent, playful and energetic; therefore they do require quite a bit of exercise. If they don't get enough exercise to satisfy them they may like most other breeds behave badly and destroy furniture etc, this shouldn't happen though if they get adequate exercise. Another feature of Boxers which is a good one is that they tend to be good with young children, making them an ideal breed for families.

Another good feature of Boxers is that they have short haired coats; this means they shouldn't leave dog hair all over the house. In my house we have a large rug in the middle of the living room and it is a constant battle with the Hoover to keep it hair free! Unlike that strange lady who was on BBC Breakfast a few months ago I don't use the old dog hair for knitting jumpers, I found that very odd! Anyway, back to the Boxers. Their hair is generally very short and comes in only a few colours. They tend to be brown (fawn or brindle are the technical terms) and have white on the underside.

I do love Boxers, I find them very interesting dogs and they always make me smile whenever I see one. When getting my next do I may well consider getting a Boxer.

Thanks for reading, hope you found the review enjoyable to read. Feel free to comment.

Summary: i'm considering getting one

A nice review, but as always, I feel its hard to review something you have never owned or have no real personal experience with.
