Advantages: Loyal and cuddley
Disadvantages: Never grow up
I have had my boxers for nearly two years and they are still completely insane. I was warned when i got them that boxers dont really mature until they are about five but i didnt consider the reality of this at first. Even though they have systematically chewed everything i own i still love them to bits and would not give them up for anything. They each have a personality of their own and bring me so much joy. To anyone considering sharing a home with a boxer i would ask them 1. Do you have a sense of humour? You will need it when you come home to find they have eaten the sofa. 2. Can you spend enough time with them? They get very depressed if left (see eaten sofa). 3. Do you enjoy long walks as they require so much exercise? Remember they think they are puppies even when they weigh 4 stone and are 4 yrs old. Mine have a two hour walk and still want me to play tug of war with them for half an hour when we get home. 4. Do you want the ultimate companion who will give you total loyalty and unconditional love. Boxers are so much fun and even though they are mischievous and usually quite naughty how could anyone not love a dog that will talk if she doent get her own way (no i am not insane they growl as if talking)sings for attention and drools on your feet for a bit of your sandwich.

- 09/04/01 Careful planning lol. We have a system we call dog proofing the house we basically remove anything they might chew, luckily they are bored of chewing sofas now. I guess if you have tasted one youve tasted them all. lol |

- 08/04/01 I had no idea that they remained like that for so long. It would definitely drive me potty!
If they're capable of eating the sofa, why have they left the rest of your home alone? |
