This is going to be a very personal opinion, which I hope will give people an insight into having a Bullmastiff as a pet!
My family have always favoured big dogs, so when our Doberman died we decided we would have a Bullmastiff. We researched into this and thought it was suitable as they are good with children and I wasn't really that old at the time, 10.
My mom turned up with our Bullmastiff puppy whom we called Bella, she was a gorgeous dog, very loving and playful.
I'm going to say a few of the incidents which happened. Bella Head-butted my brother and split his lip open(accidently of course) which needed stitches, but this was a bit of a freak accident.
She torn the ligiments in her leg and had to have an operation, which left her with a 12inch scar! She then had a womb infection and had to have her womb taken out, then she was blind in one eye--So I would say that they are prone to health problems, but this is only my personal experience.
On the other hand, she was so loving it made up for everything. Bella would sit with her head in your lap, or if you were sitting on the floor she would sit on your lap, pretty funny considering Bullmastiffs weigh about 10 stone!
Very good as guard dogs, I don't think they would actualy do anything, but they look very scary!!!
Bullmastiffs have so much character and individuality, I would recommend them to everyone. They do need a lot of exercise, food and love lots of attention and TLC.
My Bella-Best dog in the world!R.I.P
