Advantages: Sorry, cannot think of any.............
Disadvantages: Where do I start
My advice, look for a different breed.
Most of the worst puppy farmers (including show breeders) churn out great quantities of this breed for profit only which results in unhousetrainable, unloving, hyper, yappy and ill specimens.
I had a Cavalier in my childhood (30 years ago) before they were overbred, she was a great playful loyal and clean little dog.
We had another Cavalier 5 years ago and we got a dirty, yappy stressful hyperactive and very destructive dog, which we just couldn't cope with.
Both my husband and me have had all sorts of dogs all our years, including pedigrees and mongrels and they have all been healthy superb dogs.
A neighbour of mine has a Cavalier who is dog aggressive, dominant and dirty in the house so my case isn't isolated.
Also Cavaliers are now predisposed to a lot of ailments which are unavoidable. I am not going to start listing them or else I will be here for the next week.
There may be gentle healthy Cavaliers still slipping through the net but it's a risk i would never take again.
Pedigree dogs are very expensive and heartbreak and hassle is more than likely inevitable.
Summary: Choose a different breed
