Advantages: tiny, don't need loads of food or exercise but need loads of love
Disadvantages: none
Chihuahua's were originally found in Mexico and that's why they're named after a place there as well. These little toy breed dogs were first thought to be a cross breed of a squirrel or other types of rodents or little creatures. It was only since they've been domesticated that they've been classed as little dogs.
The main character trait of this dog, is that they're very protective of their owners and will defend them through barking, jumping or even snapping at anyone of whom they think is threatening or upsetting their owner.
These dogs are so tiny, they come in a few different sizes, but will always be considerably smaller than the average cat. Some are so small, that they fit into tea cups or mugs.
These dogs don't require much food and drink as they're so small and don't need a lot of exercise either. They do love to sit closely to their owners and receive love and attention, as they're very affectionate themselves.
Their hair comes in two types and an array of colours; they can have short or long hair or a mixture of the two. Their eyes can be any colour as well; I've seen brown, hazel and even blue eyed Chihuahua's. I guess it depends on the pigmentation of their hair like with humans.
I would recommend this dog for anyone who just wants a tiny but very affectionate lap dog. They live around about 15 years but I've known some to be even older than that, so they will be around for a very long time.
Summary: cute lap dogs that are very affectionate

- 01/10/09 Great review!
The sound so cute and adorbale-I would love one!
However I don't think my other dog would get along with it too well and as they are so small would probably think it is a new toy!
Nominated!
